Hi all,
I'm a fairly new android user (3 months now) i bought the galaxy note 2 coming from iphone 4 coming from blackerry and i have to say i still miss my little crackberry go getter.
i was wondering if there was any way possible to convert the notifications (system and 3rd party) in the status bar from individual notifications taking up a lot of space, or just a single icon with no indication of how many notifications are for this particular icon, to a specific icon for each app with a number next to it to show multiple notifications. (this is the norm for blackberry and to be completely honest, unless blackberry have some sort of patent on this design, i dont understand why no one else uses this design. its efficient, space saving and sleek.)

the only results i could find online were from people who adjust the android code itself or from app developers... im sure they probably wrote down the answer but it was mostly in code and have no idea if they were talking about the same thing as i was or not. i need something simpler since im not an android programmer.

I have a screenshot of the blackberry notification system just to show you what i mean exactly coz it seems harder than usual explaining this simple design to non bb users.

Thanks for taking the time and reading this, i try as much as possible not to repost overposted threads and questions and i can usually find what im looking for fairly quickly but im just stumped (which makes me feel the most probably answer will be, sorry can't happen)

anyways hope someone can help me out with this, the notifications feel way too cluttered to me using the stock system.

here's a screenshot of how it currently looks on my note 2:

i dont want this cluttered look anymore.

I agree. This is one thing that I do miss about my old Bod 9700 when I switched to Android back early last year.

I doubt it, however.

Please resurrect this thread! Same deal here, I noticed that notifications seems to not be android's strong point... I'll get notified of a new email after the fact, light flow and dashclock notifications (and to a lesser extent, the notification bar) all don't seem to be enough to let me know I have a new message...with BBs it was great to 'know' that I got a new message via spark notification and then to get back to knowing the not-so-new message still exists (but not opened yet) to be read later through the notification bar.

Please chime on with suggestions.

Addendum: don't plan on rooting the n4 nor do I plan on using launchers, I just want to improve the functionality of the notification pull down menu

I haven't used this app, but this app 'stacks' the clutter by app (Solution to Fayeks screenshot). Not sure if it helps when you pull it down though.

Hope this helps. For while you pull it down (categories) may require a rom.
