I was going to purchase and extra HTC wall and car charger, and before I did, I wanted to try my blackberry tour wall/car charger for the heck of it.

And it works!! I'm shocked, usually this doesn't happen.

Anyone else have this success?

Yeah, they're all micro-USB. Most smartphone built within the past couple of years (except for iphones) use the same chargers.

I've been using my old BB charger as an extra charger for some time... they all work the same... computer USB cables, and wall chargers.

Check the voltage just to be safe but in general the BB chargers (more power output that many other MicroUSB Chargers) have enough juice to power newer smart phones.

I felt horrible yesterday. Just got a bluetooth receiver for my car and I didn't know that the charger for that was micro-USB and I got one from Verizon when I picked up the phone. Of course the box it came in is destroyed and in the trash :(

of course it works, they're both micro-usb chargers.

only difference is, the one that comes with the HTC TB is a 1amp vs BB's .7amp.
Using CurrentWidget, you can see that the BB charger will charge slower than the stock HTC one. If that matters to you at all.

That is good info, thanks. Will the difference in voltage damage the Thunderbolt?

Amps are not volts. The lower amperage just means it flows less power to charge. This might be a problem if you're using navigation, streaming pandora, and using bluetooth at the same time as the power draw might be more than the power gain.

I went through this with my pre and made sure to get a 1ah car charger because of it.

Yes - 1A is ideal but lower will not harm your device - use it for overnight charging and you will be good to go. Use your 1A for day-time/bump's etc...

Ok, got ya. I used the BlackBerry car charger while using Navigation for 5 hours yesterday and it was fully charged.

Yup, exactly what I was gonna say.

Just a little heads up, but may not be anything to worry about. Old BB converts that moved to previous Android devices tried this and some fried their battery. Not saying it may happen to you, not saying it won't happen. Just a fair warning.

Don't assume. Some chargers have different Wattage output. If it's higher than your battery is rated for, it will kill the battery.

The TBolt charger outputs 5V x 1 Amp = 5 Watts. This is higher than my blackberry charger which outputs 5V x 850 mAmp

Just make sure that the charger you use does not exceed the total watt output of the stock.
