Check out this picture. My HTC M8 is on the left and new S6 is on the right. My M8 is so much more vivid than my new S6. Both are turned up to full brightness. Any suggestions?

Big difference. I looked at both S6/Edge models earlier today and found the screens to be extremely vibrant and bright. The brightness settings were both set to high. Nothing like your pic.

Weird...the screen on the S6 is the best I've ever seen, bar none. Your pic is interesting. Haven't compared it directly to the M8 but I can't imagine that difference in person. I've compared it to a number of other phones with outstanding screens and the S6 just blows them away.

I read an article that manual max brightness on the S6 is far dimmer than auto-brightness max (for some weird reason). I think max manual brightness was around 475 nits but auto was almost 750 nits so try setting it to auto and see what happens.

The phone is dim. Objectively - period. Check anandtech for some accurate measurements. AMOLED is dim. The screen is still a great one by all other accounts.

Objectively, the S6/S6 edge still tests to be significantly brighter than the m8. So I find the OP's issue a little worrisome.

Thanks for all the replies. I've tried every fix out there and nothing has worked. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to try another S6 or go with the M9 or Nexus 6. It's all very sad because the phone feels great in hand.

Do yo have Auto Brightness switched on? If so, uncheck this. Also, in Screen Display under settings can you choose Cinema Mode and see if this makes a difference.

Auto is turned off. I've tried all screen modes. Nothing has fixed it yet.

Just compared my m8 to s6 in indoor/night conditions and I can't replicate what the OP has shown. My S6 edge is far more vibrant and has better color reproduction. Both have been set to auto brightness.
