Blind Test! Be Honest Which Camera Did You Pick?

I picked C for most pics, but I could tell that was the Pixel... Especially when the portrait popped up. HDR+ pics just stand out.. they are so much better balanced.

I picked the Galaxy in all cases except for the very first photo. The Pixel's shots both in this video and from my own shooting experience come out too dark. The detail in the Galaxy was fantastic and the exposure and color seemed pleasing to my eye.
I feel like I bought the wrong phone. :-(

Could just be the way you prefer photos

No offense, but if the 70 in your name has anything to do with your age you might have your eyes tested. As we age, we need more light to see the same things that required less light when younger. Many older people even have restrictions on their drivers license not allowing vehicle operation at night.

I'm 30 and I picked the Galaxy over the Pixel in more cases, but they're the only ones I picked. No score for the others. I actually though the iPhone was the Galaxy because it was quite overexposed. IIRC in my view the Galaxy outscored the Pixel by 2 or 3 photos (I can't find my list of picks and I'm too lazy to score again).

it boils down to preference in terms of photos, and need. For example, my needs in pictures over the last 5 years consists of taking very detailed shots of very specimens. The fact that the Galaxy photos shows a lot of detail for stuff even in a bit of shadow without compromising the rest of the photo like the iPhone did made it my preference over the Pixel in many cases.

Does it mean that the Samsung is better for everyone? No. But it's the best camera available for my needs, with the Pixel a very close second. Give the Pixel camera a wider aperture allowing it to adjust to some of the areas where the Galaxy beat (for me) it due to more light resolved and it wins.

Also keep in mind we're comparing last year's Pixel. This year's Pixel is still waiting.

Assuming that I can't see well based on a number in my handle IS offensive and obnoxious regardless of how you prefaced your statements.

Mod Note: let's make sure we're sticking to the topic. We will all have different opinions and preferences. Together not the same. Thank you!

My apologies Ben. My wife tells me at my age of 76 I can be offensive even if I don't mean to be. It definitely would have been better to have simply made a remark that at my advanced age I don't see as well as I used to and require everything to be brighter now and leave it at that. Lesson learned and please accept my sincere apology.

Apology accepted. Let's put that behind us and carry on. Oh, and I'm 48 (as in 1970). :-)

For me with my personal experience, always liked the photos from Pixel 2 and iPhone X the best. Samsung flagship photos always were step below for me to my eye. It's different for different people, in fact I'm even preferring XZ2 pics than the S9+ camera.
