Blocked app notifications still showing up on phone -- what the heck?

Well, I'm completely flummoxed. I have had my 360 (2015) for a few days and despite the fact that I blocked a bunch of app notifications (see attached images) in Android Wear on my phone, they are still showing up on my phone. Specifically, Google Maps navigation shows up when I am navigating with my phone, Google Music shows up when I am listening to music, Mort Player (another music app that I use for audio books) shows the track that I am playing on my phone, etc. I also checked to make sure that my Moto 360 is the only device synced with my Android Wear and I even did a factory reset and started all over. No love. What am I doing wrong?

These settings are to block notifications from appearing on your watch, what you are experiencing is apps running on your watch as a control for things that you are doing on your phone. I'm not sure if you can stop this from happening since that is what the watch is designed to do.

That's confusing to me, as I'm not sure what other kind of "notifications" I would be blocking from things like Google Music and Google Maps when I block them, aside from the things that appear. In any event, that begs the question: is there any way to UN-sync selected apps (as the syncing was automatic when I setup the phone)? The purpose of the watch (from my perspective) is to notify me of email, text messages, etc., not to serve as a second phone redundantly running the same apps simultaneously.
