Blocking international roaming?

Is there a way to block international roaming separate from domestic roaming on this phone? I will be in northern NY by the border where I'd normally have to roam on Verizon, but I don't want to accidentally connect to a Canadian tower and incur extra international fees. On some Android phones there are checkboxes in the mobile network settings to differentiate between the two, but I don't see it on the Nexus. Anyone have any ideas?

Had no idea you could roam on a Canadian network with a Sprint phone accidentally.
