Blocking Spam Texts?

Hi, I am starting to get quite a few texts which look like they are from email addresses. Does anyone know how to stop this on a Galaxy 10 or even possibly an app that blocks this kind of texts? I could find only one app on the app store that will do this but it costs $40.00, which is a little steep for a texting app. Thanks

This is a somewhat common question, and I believe it depends on which carrier you have. Some carriers (like T-Mobile) have an option on the account level to disable receiving texts from an email address. I think most other carriers don't, though. Try contacting your carrier and asking their tech support if it's possible.

You were right Diddy. I just talked to the US Cellular rep and he said that there is nothing as of yet but they know of the problem and are supposedly working on it.

If you download Google message app it does a good job with spam text

I am trying it out now, thx. It looks good just hope it does the job on the spam. Do you know if it specifically filters out messages from emails? I am mainly getting them from Hotmail.

I think it should, but I can't speak from direct experience (since I'm on T-Mobile and therefore have text from email blocked). Even if you do get the messages, you should be able to report them as spam to allow the detection algorithm to learn.
