BLU Life One X - complete slow down

All of a sudden the two BLU Life One X phones my wife and I bought on the same day are completely incapable of doing most things beyond a stuttering crawl of a speed. Everything takes forever to load. Everything freezes when doing operations. Every animation that fades from one screen to another gets stuck halfway. I'd say it was a one off or a microsd card, but it's happening to both of us. Over the course of ten years we've had about 5 different Android phones since Froyo. This has never happened. Any ideas???

I second this. I considerably sped up my previous phone by formatting the cache partition. Also try cleaning the RAM with the Boost+ app from HTC, which is the only legit cleaner app out there. You may have a rogue app running in the background.

My phone is rooted. Any reason why this should cause problems or wipe my root?

Rooting in itself shouldn't cause any problems. It depends more on what you might have done after you rooted it. Any significant system modifications? Any apps you installed that require rooting? Did you delete any system or preinstalled apps?

Since rooting I've done the following...
1. Frozen several bloatware apps with Titanium
2. Installed Xposed to add certain post-Lollipop features into the OS

All bets are off, then. It's still worth wiping the cache partition (if you still can). Otherwise, you may want to try getting rid of the Xposed module you're using, or temporarilyl reenabling the bloatware one by one.
