Blue tooth connection for Acer A500 with Droid 3

Have tried turning on Airplane mode on A500, turning on bluetooth, making discoverable, turning blue tooth on Droid3 making discoverable - A500 comes up on phone as does AT&T Dect 6.0 (Droid 3 is on Verizon so must be something on tablet?) The correct pairing numbers come up but am stuck with connected but not paired on both devices - Connected but not paired with Droid 3 on tablet with a wrench and when click on that have 2 options, Rename device & Unpair - any help appreciated as wanted to not have to cable tether with Easy Tether until I know that's my only option
