Hey guys,
My dad has a Bluetooth headset that has a button that can open voice dialer when pressed.

Is there a way to make it open Google voice search instead? He wants to be able to send texts, which you can do with voice search, but can't with voice dialer.

I looked through all the settings, but can't find anything.

If your bluetooth is only "phone headset" capable and not "media" capable, Google Voice functionality with your BT will be limited to the actual calls only.

yeah, it would be good to know what type of headset it is then we'd know the capabilities, but another option would be using vlingo, when you first use it you can set to use vlingo by default when you press the buton, you can make and answer calls, send text, search, all hands free and voice activated... and free!

Do you know the model # If you do just Google it. What your looking for is a2dp functionality. If it doesn't have it and this is important to you, there very cheap. You can get a nice one for under $50.00.
Here is a good example click
