I was a iphone user and just switched to HTC one. It is working fine except for one thing.

I tried to connect my phone to my car's in-dash system through bluetooth. It is successful and I can even see the SMS message and contact list(with picture) in my car.
However, there are some issues about the contact list. That is, all contacts in my phone (including contacts in my flickr account) are sent to my car. This is kind of annoying.
Why do I need to know my contacts from flickr in my car, they don't even have phone number and address.

When I use iphone, I get to select which contact group to be synced to the car. So only important contacts are sent to the vehicle. However, using HTC one, I don't know how this can be done. I cannot find any similar functionality anywhere. Any suggestions?

Did you try the phone book selection in the top left of the contact page? Don't know if that will do it for you, but it is worth a shot.

Tried that and it does not work.
Note that the flickr contact is not even in menu of the contact page.

Ok, I haven't looked at what contacts my phone is syncing to my truck so not sure if I have the same issue.

I do see within the contact app, if you go to "open account settings" there is a account sync list. Flickr is there. Selecting Flickr, there are options to sync contacts and stream. But also a menu that includes "remove" so perhaps you could remove the Flickr contacts?

I tried to disable flickr sync (the contact part, not the stream part). It doesn't work either.
Forget about the Flickr account. Let's focus on the regular contact list.
I tried to google the issue. It seams that it is a common problem (not able to choose contacts to sync) for all Android?
Anyway, although the function may not exist in the phone, I am hoping to find a third party app to do the job.

Just a thought, does your car have the ability to choose what to sync somewhere deep in it's settings? I looked at mine today, Toyota Tacoma, and it only synced those with phone numbers. But the system is a basic system compared to yours (sms or pics).

No, the only setting that is available in my car is to disable sms and contact completely.
Still looking for solutions.

Have you tried transfering your contacts.
People / Contact > Menu button > import / export
Export from your gmail to your sd card. This should make them a solid v-card file the radio can pull.
After thats complete just repair your phone and look for that prompt window or pull down the task bar while you wait...

No, I did not try that.

But I did get confirmation from HTC that the function I am asking does not exist. They will consider adding that in the future.

I see.. yeah and the radios dont really seem to support groups either..
As SCjRqrQCnBQ19QoYCtdl stated when you go into the settings and accounts you arent able to uncheck your flickr contact sync...
That should have removed them from your list...
When you go into your contacts on the phone are all the flikr ones listed.. if so you could just manually delete them...

I have a similar issue where the carkit would use the Facebook contact name if it is linked to the contact...
This is very annoying cause some of my contacts have their names in different languages and the carkit keyboard only support English.
My only solution is to un-link the Facebook account of the specific contact from the phone contact.
