Bluetooth and sms

I use textra as my texting app. When I am not in my car and get texts, I look at them and they are marked read. The next time I get in my car, all the messages start showing up as new in my car infotainment system (Chevy). How do I stop this?

i use stock sms and i get notified of texts messages and i do not have any. I have a 2015 explorer with Sync.
