I installed the Pioneer fh-p8000bt roughly 2 weeks ago, and paired it successfully with my DroidX for both BT Audio and BT phone usage..

All worked just fine..

The DroidX is 3g, and the internet radio dropped on occasion. So I went ahead and upgraded to the HTC Thunderbolt for it's 4G capabilities.

The day of the purchase of the Thunderbolt, I was installed, synced, and working perfectly within 3 minutes..

Suddenly yesterday morning, the head unit didn't want to pick up the BT connection.
Meaning - when I went to BT Audio - options - Connection - (there would be a spot for "connecting".. And instead it shows NO Data or the Nokia device that is stock..

I've reset the head unit to default 3 times and now the phone and address book has synced up, but th BT audio only shows No Connection, and will not allow me to choose "connecting" at any time..

I've cleared the BT memory several times, wiped out the BT parameters on my phone, and tried to do everything from scratch 3 complete times with no luck?

When I go into initial settings I've ensured BT Audio is set to ON, and whenever I attempt to do "software update", it simply shows "data waiting" blinking.. But nothing ever happens?

Any ideas?

I love this head unit from A-Z, but the BT Audio is the key reason for the purchase.. So this hurts a bit :(

Thank you in advance for your time.

when you go in to the bt settings, long press on the cd player and connect there. my bt has been crazy lately like yours. it will disconnect randomly and i have to reconnect.

Crazy how facebook can mess up bluetooth connection but stranger things have happened!

OMG! I think that is along the lines of what the problem might be..

I'm rooted, but with no custom roms.. and already have that widget frozen.. BUT, i did actually install the facebook app this weekend.

so there might be a connection.. i'll test and let everyone know..

Head Unit online and functional!!

I'm not sure if the Facebook app was the culprit, but here were my steps overall in case it helps anyone else..

The reason I'm not entirely sold on it being the Facebook App because the posts mentioned it being connecting and dropping repeatedly... I never experienced that.. mine just randomly decided to only use the phone, and ignore the BT audio completely..

Steps - (do not enable BT on your phone immediately for best results - read the steps below first)

TB steps

1. uninstalled FB app
2. un-froze (enabled) HTC friend stream 1.0
- I did Not un-freeze the friend stream widget.. the process was enough IMO at the time
3. froze or uninstalled any additional Bluetooth apps or app configurations to Bluetooth functions (ie- made sure nothing else had it's hooks into the BT settings..
4. unpaired the current setup of the car head unit in BT settings (empty list of pairings)

Car HU

1. Hit Reset processor button on the front of the unit with a small pen or paper clip
2. press and hold the scroll wheel until you enter the initial settings menu
3. update time, date, audio if you'd like at this time or later
4. scroll right to BT Memory
5. Press the right-side of the scroll wheel and Yes will appear
6. Press the entire scroll wheel and it will clear and confirm
7. Press Band to Esc back out of the menu
8. Press Source repeatedly until BT Audio is displayed
9. Press the Scroll Wheel repeatedly until you see SYNC WITH PAIRED PHONE (NOT "Nokia")
10. Press and Hold the Scroll Wheel for roughly 8-10 seconds and the word Ready will come up
11. Enable BlueTooth on your TB at this time
12. Bluetooth settings - check discoverable, and choose scan for devices
13. you should be prompted for the pin which is 0000 by default - enter the PIN and hit Okay
14. the two should bounce back and forth for about 10-15 seconds and you will be prompted for access to your address book. Choose Yes - Check Always
15. The two should pair normally from here and you'll see - CONNECTED
16. if you see ERROR - repeat from step 8

From there I did not re-install the FB app, but I did freeze the (disable) HTC friend stream 1.0 app, while connected and listening internet radio.. no problems from there..

I haven't gone back to the car to see if the HTC friend stream 1.0 app will cause issues upon my next connection attempts.. I'll update tomorrow.

hope that helps someone someday :)
