Bluetooth BMW Issues

My GN struggles to stream audio to a Motorala bluetooth receiver while the phone is connected via bluetooth to the car. If I unpair the phone and car the audio streams fine. I suspect it is the large amount of contacts I have which the phone syncs to the car.

Is their a way to have the phone sync to the car for calls only and not sync contacts?

Thanks.

It sounds like you're trying to connect to two Bluetooth devices with your phone at the same time. I'm not sure it will be able to stream music to one device while connected to another. I think BMW's have a built-in mini RCA cable for audio in the armrest (my girlfriend's brother's 3 series does at least). Try using that for music and use Bluetooth to connect to your other device.

Yes, I am trying to have both connected at the same time. It works but I get a lot of audio skipping.
You are correct there is an AUX jack I could use but I was hoping to keep it all wireless. My Blackberry worked fine with this setup which leads me to believe its the BT radio in the GN. Since my post I did unpair the phone from the car and upon repairing I was asked if I want the car to access my contacts, I selected not to access contacts and the skipping is much less now. I still have a problem in that the phone automatically connects to the car upon entering but not always to the Moto receiver. I'm hoping this is fixed in the 4.04 update.

I just wish BMW's with older iDrive systems could stream music... The loaner BMW they gave me had this and I loved it, even though the GNex doesn't support additional information over Bluetooth (like track info, etc). I haven't tried having my GNex being simultaneously connected to two different Bluetooth things, though.

I think only the most current BMWs accept streaming music directly. My previous 2008 335 and current 2010 335 both with iDrive do not which is why I need the Motorola bluetooth receiver. If you have an AUX IN jack give it a shot.

I will say this: my car does support both audio streaming and phone calls over Bluetooth at the same time, i.e., I can stream music, answer a call, and go back to streaming music, podcasts, etc. It's a late model Acura but does not have the upgraded GPS system.

I guess it's going to depend upon whether the hardware in your car can support both. I know your pain; in my last car, I had to use a Bluetooth Motorola speaker for calls and listen to audio through a TAPE DECK adapter.
