Bluetooth Handsfreelink Sound Quality Issue - Choppy Over 50 MPH

Hi,

I have a Galaxy Nexus and am having people tell me that the sound is very choppy and that they can't hear me clearly when I have it connected to my car's bluetooth (handsfreelink) system.

It seems fine when I'm going slow, but once you get over 50 mph it seems like the road noise of the car causes it to get choppy. It's like the phone is trying to gate out the noise, but it's too much.

I exchanged the phone once already and the problem persisted even with a new phone. My iPhone had no problems and sounds clear. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I use my GN with my cars Sync system on bluetooth and the speed that I'm going makes no difference. Sound quality is decent whether going 20 or 70. I would begin to wonder if there may not be something interfering with your signal at higher speeds such as some car electronics that may put out a signal that causes the problem? That is just pure speculation and guessing on my part but I can't think of any other reason why the speed of the car would make a difference.

Thanks - I will have to look into that. Good to know that you don't have the issue at high speeds.

I believe it's a sound gating issue. The faster you drive in the car, the louder the road noise. At a certail level of road noise, the gate kicks in and starts cutting everything out under the certain sound level. The nexus has noise gates built into ICS, but I believe that they are just not set right in the OS.

Thoughts, comments?

Bluetooth is only rated for 45 MPH. I thought everyone knew.

I've never been able to use an Android device in our Acura (handsfree), but every one works with my aftermarket truck stereo. In the Acura, the phone works fine, but music has never worked.
