Bluetooth headset problems

Hey folks brand new to the forum. I cant get my bluetooth headset to read back texts to me like I could with my s2. After hitting talk button on the headset it tells me I have a text but it doesnt understand the command "read message". I tried a variety of different commands and settings changes and still no luck.

For the record the headset is a Samsung HM1700

Do you have Driving Mode enabled? Generally with DM enabled, when texts are recieved, they are automatically read aloud.

Yeah I tried that. It reads them aloud when i open the text, but not into the headset.
