Bluetooth keyboard gets "laggy" after extended use

I've been using a BT keyboard (this one - Amazon.com: SANOXY Bluethooth Keyboard for iPad: Computers & Accessories) with my Prime recently for some writing I'm doing, and I love writing with it. It's a great little set up.

The problem is that over the course of say an hour of typing, it seems to build up "lag" between key press and onscreen response time and it's getting annoying. I can reset it sometimes by turning off BT for awhile, or turning off the keyboard, but that is a workaround I'd like to avoid (I have to break the "writing stride" if you will) if possible.

I noticed this also with a previous keyboard I had (here - Amazon.com: Azio KB333BM Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for Mac (KB333BM): Electronics. and yes they do look similar, but different companies).

My next step is to test it by connecting it to my phone (GS3) to see if I have the same issue (but I'd prefer to use my Prime). I'm doing my writing using QuickOffice Pro HD and connected through DropBox for backups (in case that's relevant).

Anyone else having similar issues? Or know how to kill the lag?

Thanks

Is the Prime lagging at all, or, is it just the keyboard? Like, when you start experiencing lag, if you switch to the onscreen keyboard, is there no lag? Just curious if it's the Prime or the device. Sounds like you have narrowed it down to the keyboard, just throwing that out there.

That sounds like a good test. You work in IT? :p

Not for nothing, the official Prime dock is incredible. Not sure if you are in it to spend money, but, I have had ZERO problems with the dock, you get almost double battery life, and a whole host of other great features.

I noticed with the standard Asus prime keyboard similar issues when it was low on battery, while the tablet had good power..

Interesting, if my Prime dock ever gets low on battery, I'll have to check. That generally never happens, as, I'm usually plugged in. And, when I'm not, say, in the car and not driving, I usually don't use the dock. But, the official dock is still really great.

Thanks for the IT compliment. :) Not IT, just a guy who's used to working with computers and technology and has learned from past mistakes.

I seem to have fixed the issue. More google searching across the nets brought me the info that lots of apps in memory can cause the delayed lag. So I killed all the apps in my memory. Booted up the office program, and...same thing.

So, I shut down the Prime. Let it sit for a few. Booted back up with a fresh and empty memory, and...working perfectly. No more lag. :) I think it was just a back up in the memory. Easy peasy.

I like the dock idea, but for now my BT keyboard is just more cost effective. :) Thanks for the rec, though.

No problem!! I appreciate troubleshooting.

Great, glad you got your issue worked out, and, thanks for coming back and posting your solution.

Yea, I mean, if I already had something that filled the niche, I wouldn't be spending anymore money, so, I don't blame you. But, now that I have the dock, I can't imagine my Prime without it. :p
