Has anyone been successful getting a Bluetooth Mouse to work on their Honor 5X?

I'm on the Marshmallow update.

I have a Bluetooth Mouse. Logitech M557. It pairs and connects. It shows the mouse logo next to the name of the mouse in the Bluetooth settings. However, it gives the description of an Android Keyboard instead of pointer input. There is no mouse cursor, and the mouse has zero functionality.

I also have a Bluetooth keyboard. Periboard-805L. It pairs, connects, and works flawlessly.

What I need is a working mouse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to connect the mouse using USB OTG? What about another Bluetooth mouse?

I tried to reply earlier, but apparently the Android app for the forums won't allow me to post, even though it shows me logged in. Neither will Firefox on my phone, so I guess it was me waiting until I get back home to the laptop.

The Honor 5X does not support UBS-OTG without flashing a new ROM to it. This particular model mouse is Bluetooth only, and does not support USB. Also, this mouse works great with my laptop, my Windows 10 Mobile Phone, my Windows 10 Tablet, and my Android KitKat tablet. It works on KitKat and Lollipop devices okay, but does not function at all on my Honor 5X running Marshmallow. I have not tested it on other Marshmallow devices.

The device has been factory reset twice this week. It has also been rooted this week. The mouse did not work before or after rooting.

I do not have access to a different Bluetooth mouse at this time.

Hmmm.. I am out of ideas. Have you tried to contact Honor customer service?

With regards to your posting issues, i would suggest that you post in the feedback forum and the technical staff can take a look.

I went to Office Depot and purchased a new Bluetooth Mouse, which advertised to be compatible with Android 4.4 and up. It pairs but never connects. Returned it immediately.

I'll check with XDA forums and see if there are any solutions.

I spoke with a rep at the Huawei US Support site. EMUI 4 does not support Bluetooth mouse functionality, so I'm out of luck on it without flashing a new ROM. It will take flashing a new ROM to get either Bluetooth mouse or USB-OTG support, which Huawei has disabled in their version of the Android kernel.

Just thought I'd post in case someone in the future is doing a search for the same thing.

Oh wow. That really sucks. Thanks for the update though, it should help futu Bluetooth mouse users.

I flashed LineageOS 14.1 this week to my Honor 5X, so I'm now on Nougat 7.1.2. Bluetooth mouse works fantastic. So does USB-OTG. I can even use my 1TB USB HDD that is formatted NTFS, and it reads and rights flawlessly.

So, bottom line on Bluetooth mouse functionality: Huawei doesn't care and won't support it. ROMs that are available on XDA will give you much better support.

Also, I've already gotten my 1st OTA security patch from LineageOS, which patched the Bluetooth vulnerability that has been in the news. Nice to finally be supported again, even if it isn't from Huawei. I should have done this the day I bought the phone.
