Can it be done? Phone audio connects fine.. but music won't.. I want tunes, without cables..!

Same problem here... The BlackBerry 9900 connected fine and played music and calls. Now SIII won't play music through the car speakers. :(

If your car supports BT audio streaming it should connect as long as you have media audio selected as well as phone audio in BT settings.

If your car doesn't support media stream you could get a Bluetooth AUX receiver and stream your music to that.

As others have stated, it depends on the stereo. Must have stereo Bluetooth capabilities. Mine has A2DP and my phone is my main source of music in my car. Even transmits track information from Play Music to my stereo's display.

I had difficulty with my s3 initially. Need to use settings on the player to establish the connection. After that works flawlessly.

It definitely depends on the individual make and model car, not just the S3. I've been trying to get BT working with my 2012 Honda CR-V for months and my experience was always the same:
1) Initial pairing OK -- both car audio and media
2) Turn off BT on phone
3) Second pairing a nightmare -- even with saved profile
4) Remove all BT profiles from the car, start over -- with step 1)

Found that if I left BT running on the phone ALL the time, that in some cases, the phone WOULD pair with the car, but in ALL cases, car audio did NOT pair. I had to go into settings and check that EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Then, I bough an iBolt Card Dock (from local Verizon store) and installed Car Home Ultra on the phone.

NOW, phone and car pair perfectly -- including car audio -- every single time!

Don't know if it was just the car dock, or the addition of Car Home Ultra, but pairing now works without any problems.

Have you looked into updating your vehicle's BT software? A lot of times the manufacturers offer downloadable updates on the their websites you write to a thumb drive. I've done this to my Ford before.

You car does need to support A2DP Bluetooth media.

For more options with routing media / phone call audio to Wired Headphones, Bluetooth, Aux Digital, etc.., there is an app named SoundAbout in the market.

I have an aftermarket Pioneer unit, it works even when I don't want it to. Starts playing my phone music without a prompt.

Works fine for me. Acura TSX. I had a problem with random disconnects at one point. I noticed I had 3 or 4 unused bluetooth profiles on the car so I deleted them. No problems since then.
