Bluetooth voice command doesn't work properly, how can I get it working?

Bluetooth voice command doesn't work properly

The bluetooth voice command function on my HTC One M8 works only when the home screen is visible. Otherwise, I get the prompt, "Voice dialing," but it can't/won't recognize my voice. This problem is recent; it previously worked.

Welcome to the forums. Did you get an update recently? Have you tried rebooting the device?

It might have been updated recently. How do I "reboot" the phone other than to turn off? Thanks for your help.
