is there a way to tether my WIFI only XOOM to a samsung charge via blutooth in order to use phones internet access?

I have seen posts on using blutooth to wireless tether xoom using other phones, but i cannot get it to work. The devices pair but do not connect. I set xoom into airplane mode, pair the devices, but no matter what i do the Xoom says they are paired but not connected.

Try restarting the Xoom just before you try to tether. This has worked for me. I have to restart the device each time I tether.

i use pdanet tablet. for my evo 3D. there are a few steps you must follow:

turn Xooms airplane mode on. Then start both apps which turns bluetooth on and pair through the app.

The only downside is that only the browser works and it is not very stable

Does PDANET require one to root their phone because i do not want to do this unless i absolutely have to!

Several days ago I downloaded PDAnet Tablet (v1.0.6) and installed it on my Droid Bionic and Xoom Tablet. After a few tries, I was able to connect to the internet... I was very pleased. Today I tried to connect again. No luck. The phone says that the Xoom is connected to the phone modem and the Xoom says it is connected to the phone. My proxies were set. I did briefly get the connected screen, so I proceeded to the browser. Nothing. Rebooted the Xoom. Reset the proxy, connected the phone using the 'button' in PDAnet Tablet. "Connected" but nothing.

If it had not worked a couple of days ago, I would just believe that it is too beta to be of any value. And that it was junk. But I saw it work. I used it. Now I actually need it and it refuses to work.

After pairing the devices, and connecting them through PDAnet, after I get the two notices - connected and warning to reset proxy, the Bluetooth connection is gone - Bluetooth icon dimmed. Manually connecting then gives me a connection to the phone, but not to the internet.

I have followed the suggestions that I have seen on the forum. Any other suggestions? Really frustrated. I really need this Saturday. (It's Thursday night now.)

Thanks!

Get rid of PDAnet. You don't need it.

Then reboot your tablet and connect via bluetooth. Once you disconnect you need to reboot your tablet again in order to reconnect.

When I try that, I can pair, but not connect. My devices are not rooted.

If you reboot your xoom it should be able to connect. Just make sure your xoom is in airplane mode before you try to BT tether.
After you disconnect BT and then try to connect again it will say paired but not connected. Reboot and connect again. Its a pain that is the main reason I decided to root my DX so I could just wifi tether.
