Boot animation audio on AT&T One

I don't mind the stock boot animation but I don't like the AT&T jingle on the One when it boots up. Is it possible to turn off the audio without root access or flashing another ROM?

The Silent Boot app seems to solve this. It mutes the system sounds before a reboot then unmutes the sounds about 10-seconds after boot.

If you unlock the bootloader through HTCdev.com you get the HTC unlocked boot animation instead of the AT&T one.

I was able to unlock my bootloader at about 2 PM pacific yesterday. XDA has a thread going on it though, you could check there.

EDIT: Just went and checked the XDA thread, and as of 730 eastern this morning, it was still unlockable.
