Booting question

When I had my last epic before I exchanged it and it froze on me so pulled out the battery and held volume down plus power and I booted into a menu (i think its the bootloader screen) that had these 4 options: fast boot, recovery. Clear storage, and simlock. I used this to factory reset my phone. Now that I have my new epic I can't boot into that menu. I can get into recovery but mot that. I've tried a lot. Anybody know why I can't boot into it? Thanks

Its called Hboot,,,, i dont think you need to pull your battery just hold down the volume down button while you power up. is that what you are doing ?

No I pulled my battery cause my phone froze. I've been trying by holding the power down and it doesn't work. I did it on my old phone but I can't do it on this one for some reason.

No not when I did it. This one isn't rooted now cause I just got it and I'm just waiting on froyo before I root again. Can you all boot into it? I just dont get it. It's almost like they forgot to put this on my phone.

you know what i have been trying with my phone and i cant get there with my fascinate, i can get to recovery but not hboot. ill keep researching this

You have to hold the camera button along with volume down and power.

nope, i can get it to recovery but not Hboot

What is Hboot? And have you gotten to Hboot before on your Fascinate?

You are completely powering the phone off first, aren't you? Then hold volume down and tap power keeping volume down held until hboot comes up.
Found somewhere @ -@ i just remembered what i read, and well ya unless if fully different with every android.

the screen that lets you do fastboot. ive never done it on fascinate but he said he was able to get there through that method with his old epic unless he is mistaken.

You may be thinking of a different manufacturer - I don't think Samsung has Hboot on its Galaxy S phones. There is only Download Mode and Recovery.

Ok well just for reference, the only way i can reach Recovery from my Fascinate is by holding both up,down and power up, then wait for the "Samsung" animation to cycle, after it cycles to "Samsung" you let go then press either up or down

lol ok so i did that i pressed down , then quickly pressed and released power and now it has a big yellow triangle with android shovelling something and it says Downloading .... Do not turn off target.... thats download mode right
