Bootloader unlock on 4.4.2?

I have a Verizon galaxy s4 and I really want to flash cyanogenmod. Is there an update for the like hack or is there another workaround?

No, there is not. Unless you have the original mdk version of the bootloader.

I just read that the root method towelroot will also unlock the bootloader

No. It will only root the phone. Then you may be able to use Safestrap to flash a rom in stock slot. Due to not being able to flash the proper kernel you will be limited to TW based roms only. No ASOP or Cyanogenmod roms.

Ok so I did the safe strap recovery and installed a rom but I reverted back to stock. Safe strap apk keeps quiting and I've tried commands to remove it but no luck
