Both cameras dead after dropping in water

I have inherited a Galaxy S3 that was once dropped in water. Everything seems to work perfectly fine except the cameras. When I click the camera icon, the app seems to open but just has a black screen and I have to reboot in order to close it. My questions is: What are the odds that simply replacing both cameras will fix the problem? Or is it more likely the board they are attached to?

Thanks!

Do they work with any 3rd party camera or does any camera produce the same result?

If this is really a hardware damage from water, it's usually the board that goes first, but it could be both the camera sensor and the board bit they're attached to. For an S3 though, it's probably cheaper to just get a replacement unit or a new phone.

No. Third party software doesn't help. Camera replacement would be less than $10 for parts and i'd do it myself. Board would be just as easy, just not sure which to buy.
