I'm not quite sure if this is what you mean, but if you set your Notification Sound (Settings>Sound>Notification Sound) to a certain ring, than have every notification set on default ringtone (which is the default setting), it will change all of your notifications.

Since you mentioned profiles, I am guessing I am way off here haha.

Yes that is the central place. But say you want a different ringtone for your twitter app then its not located there. It would be located under the application setting itself and it overrides the central settings. In BB world, you can have different rings or vibrations per app in a central place. Android doesn't work like that unfortunately. It just takes some getting used to.
