Bought my Tab 2 10.1 while living in China

Last year I bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 while I was living in Mainland China. I bought it mainly so i could watch movies etc while traveling by train and wasn't concerned that it wasn't hooked up to any major markets such as the Google play store. But my problem is that now i'm back in the states, I can't download anything. I've tried downloading the apps thru torrent sites and some work, like chrome. There is a Samsung market that I can get some things on, but I guess my bigger problem is I want to "un-China-fy" my tablet.
Is there anyway I can uninstall the OS currently on it and completely reinstall a US version?

Note: I've done many factory resets on it and tried to root it as well. Please help.
