I have a user that just got the FROYO on the EPIC. Since then, when he replies to an email, it comes over like this.

Hopefully this works... with no bs funny stuff<br><br>Mr User<br>Vice President of Wines<br><br>Mr Reply<me@company.com> wrote:<br><br>test

it is showing original email and I cant find the setting to turn it off

It's his email signature, and those are line breaks to start a new line.... but HTML doesn't work in email sigs. Just delete the <br> tags

Yeah, mines being doing that, too. It's not just the email signature, it's throughout the email. In fact, the only place it doesn't do it is my default signature. Very annoying and unprofessional. The main office for my work even sent me an email to stop doing whatever I was doing as it makes it next to impossible to read.

I turned the signature off...if I send a normal email from the phone, it looks fine. If I reply, and then the user replies to me, my original email comes back with brackets, along with his reply, so Its not his signature. I have an EVO, and I can turn off sending original text. Apparently the EPIC default client doesnt do this or have this feature. maybe another mail client, like Improved Email or something....

The problem is on his phone. It is sending the html tags. He needs to figure out what setting he has to change to prevent it from converting the carriage returns to html line breaks.

sent from my NC

That's exactly what happened to me once I got on Froyo and I could not find any settings on the phone to fix it. I don't remember this being an issue with Eclair. I started using Maildroid instead which can handle HTML in MS exchange.

I highly doubt it is "his phone" since I have the problem and apparently others do too. Many different phone types so the only common thread is Froyo email app.

The email app worked fine until I upgraded to froyo. NOTHING on my end changed other than the upgrade to froyo (which admittedly changed a lot of stuff).

Someone PLEASE provide a solution. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Just had my first <br><br> yesterday....

The original message(s) that I replied to came from other Android phones (Droid1) and was sent using the Samsing email app from my MSN account if that helps anyone figure out what might be the cause.

i just installed Improved Email on his phone, removed the Email in the Samsung client..brackets gone, plus a better email app over all

I would just like to revive this thread and see if anyone has had any luck in this issue. As I use my phone for work as well as pleasure, the <br><br> thing has really brought my level of professionalism down.

Any luck on this outside of using a 3rd party email client?

I don't have the stock email on my phone anymore to test it myself, but it has to do with the email client not sending or receiving HTML tags. Go into settings and see if there is any server settings to send/receive HTML. If not, then go to a 3rd party app.... honestly they're better anyway.

I use Enhanced Email myself and recommend it highly.

I'd use a enhanced email client. But only the stock email client works with our companies Microsoft Exchange. I hope someone comes out with a fix.

I use Moxier Mail for my Corporate MS Exchange. Don't know about you, but Exchange email with the onboard mail app on the Epic was far far too slow to be useful. Moxier was the best $20 I ever spent on an app (and I'm a cheap bastard), and it syncs as smoothly as when I was on WinMo (Moxier syncs: email, contacts, calendar, tasks, and notes!). Moxier accepts certificates as well, so security should not be an issue.

Heck, if it's for Corp Exchange, maybe your company would pick up the tab on moxier.

PS. You probably know this, but on the Epic, you can designate which accounts are fed into the onbaord Contact and Calendar list (Corp, Gmail, FB, etc...); I feed my calendar and contacts with Corp Exchange only, and email with Moxier. Works like a charm.

cheers/dom

I have the same issue..But I found out if I remove the original email when replying fixes the issue.

goto your outlook on a computer, go to your options, and make sure you unclick this box:

You can control whether external content in HTML e-mail messages is automatically downloaded and displayed when you open an HTML message.
Block external content in HTML e-mail messages.

I was also screamed at by corporate to fix my phone, or dont use it. that is all i had to do, when using my phone now, it works like normal

phd12volt - I cannot find a box that says, "Block external content in HTML e-mail messages." Any ideas on where it is? This issue has been driving me nuts for months. Thanks.
