I just got my GN in the mail about 4 hours ago. I was playing along fine customizing the apps and screen. I even made a few phone calls and took some pictures. Then the worst happened. I hung up on a phone call went to reply to a text message and the phone screen had little pink lines on it, the screen was unresponsive and then turned off. I didn't drop the phone or anything. I couldn't find anything online and usually this is where I go to find out more information with no luck. Without an official manual I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to get this thing up and running again? This isn't my first Andriod phone. I have the Nexus One and the G1 before that so I am very familiar with the OS. I have tried taking the battery out and still nothing.

Sincerely,
Very depressed Galaxy Nexus owner :(

Is it possible the battery died and you didn't realize it? 4 hours out of the box and playing with the phone sounds about right for battery life... unless you had it charging.

Will the phone power on at all? Try charging the phone for at least a half an hour and then see if it will power back on.

I would try charging the phone for a while, or maybe try plugging the phone in without a battery and power it on. Hope it works man

^^^ this. I haven't seen that happen yet, nor when my battery died for the first time this evening. But I would definitely give it a good charge and try it again. Does it show the charging animation when you plug it in?

Today I went into my local VZW and although there was no demo devices on display, I was able to play with GN since I have one on hold through the awesome rep I have been working with. The phone is seriously fantastic but I had a similar situation to the original poster. I know the phone was almost dead as I played with it and then it eventually died in my hands. It wouldn't respond to any buttons presses even when I plugged the charger in. It wasn't until I hard pressed on the power for a few seconds like getting into the boot loader and then the charge icon appeared. Try that and hopefully it would work for you.

This was actually a battery issue. The battery doesn't last any longer then 4 hours. I went a bought a new battery and now it is fine. I am pretty disappointed in this. There is also no battery indicator so when you plug it in you really have no clue it is charging unless you turn on the screen. Besides for that the phone is great. ICS takes a little getting use to.

Had you charged the battery before using the phone? They do tell you to do that in the manual. I would also suggest you change the title of this thread since your phone isn't bricked. For the record I am getting a whole day without charge on my Nexus.

Same here, getting 17-22 hours on a charge with heavy use.
