brand new Pixel 2, can't set up POP email accounts

[Android Central Question]

Hi, I just unboxed a new pixel 2. I am trying to set up 2 pop email accounts and each time I try I get either can't authenticate error or can't connect to the server error. gmail account was not an issue, but I don't use gmail at all for email, i need the POP accounts set up. My old DTEK android did this seamlessly in under 30 seconds. Can't believe an old Blackberry Android does this better than a Pixel 2. Please help!
