They just arrived in the post. I know you will get a pair with your new phones, so here is what you will get in the pack.

The sound is really good for budget earphones. Decent amount of bass. Listened to Thunder by Imagine Dragons and the music didn't sound too awful, even compared to my Bose QC35s.

They are quite comfy to wear.

The assistant works well. You set it up in assistant settings and she can read notifications for you when they come in. You can choose which apps to be notified of and can hear the notification by clicking the vol up button.

You can make requests which don't show up on the phone screen.

All in all worth the money if you want to go wired and want the assistant features.

Another useful thing... I needed to call somewhere that I didn't know the number for. I asked the assistant to call kenilworth skip hire and the name of the town and it called the company right up. No lag and no confusion.

That was fabulous!!

And when I got a text, she read it and allowed me to answer it directly and then the subsequent reply from the original sender. Fantastic!! This is what Cortana could do on my Windows Phone and I have missed it.

I ordered these from the Google store but I'm still waiting for them to ship. I will be using them with the Pixel 2 XL. I wish these had a flat wire instead of a rounded wire. Other than that, they look promising.

I am using it with a P2 XL. Yes they should although Google says that the assistant functions are for the Pixel. But they are worth the money. Definitely.

Do they stay in your ears while moving around? I found the original ones did not when I went running. Had to return them.

I've done that quite a bit over the past year with my Pixel 2 using the squeeze function. Just say call Business X in Anytown, CA and it either starts calling right away or gives you choices if there are multiple options for your query. So it's not limited to the earbuds, FYI. Glad you like them.

After going completely wireless I don't think I could ever go back
Did you own the original Google Buds? Have you tried/considered the new Google Pixel Buds?
I'm looking for a (preferably wireless) option that has Assistant support that I can use with the Translate feature for work. Looking for recommendations on any of the new earbuds that support this feature; on-ear and over-the-ear headphones are out.

Will this work with my Bluetooth earpiece , without a third party app, or is it specific to the pixel buds?

I am using pixel buds wired. I really don't know. If your bluetooth earpiece has assistant built in it may work but I think it is assistant specific. Also only works with Android messages and WhatsApp that I have used.

It is not specific to Pixel buds, however the earbuds or headphones have to be Google Assistant compatible. I know Sony and Bose have over the ear headphones that support it. Not sure about their earbuds.

To add, JBL is releasing a new GA enabled wireless earbud in the near future!
