Android Central Question

Hi guys! I dont know where to ask, i have seen about 25 ish videoes on youtube, read some sites.. read some more sites... and... read...... you get the point

I am new to android phones, i went from Siemens, to Sony Ericsson to Iphone as my smartphone, i have had Iphone sience the first iphone. I am very happy with my iphone. BUT.. i wanna try something new.

I have decided between One Plus 9Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.. i dont know why Samsung is there, but might have something to do with it beeing abit main stream. I have never heard about OnePlus.. and certantly not Xiaomi ( i dont know how to say that name irl).

I am not a Photographer or Videomaker, but i want to use the Camera alot of my phone.

Out of these two, what would you guys reccomend and why. Answers like "Pick the one you like" , "S21 ultra is the best" or " Xiaomi " does not work for me. As i have never seen the two brands, i can only know about them from you guys and the rest of the internett.

As far as i have concluded: Both have amazing screen, Both have good cameras, Both as fast and Xiaomi have better battery, but does not look as good as the OnePlus. OnePlus is also cheaper

Would i as an Amature Photographer, Videomaker and Android user see and feel the difference?

Only one is for sale in my country atm, but i can wait for the Xiaomi

Welcome to Android Central! The OnePlus 9 Pro apparently has some issues with overheating at this time, which OnePlus says they can fix with a patch: https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/04/07/oneplus-9-pros-are-overheating-but-a-fix-is-planned/. So you may want to hold off until it's clear that they've fixed it.

Xiaomi is a bit notorious for jamming a bunch of official adware into their firmware, so keep that in mind.

( i am the person who wrote this post)

Yes i have heard about the overheating, and i know Xiaomi have some garbage in their OS, but i saw a video that show`s how to remove it completely. Sonething you could not do before.

But if you had to choose between these two, what would you pick?

What country are you in? Xiaomi might not be as widely compatible worldwide as OnePlus.

Personally, I'd go with OnePlus with their track record. But I'm a die-hard Pixel user, so that decision has never come up.;)

I am in Norway. We have Xiaomi phones here, just the Ultra is too new. But as i stated in my post, i want to use the camera alot, i know both are good. But do you think i wil notice a big difference going from Iphone Xs Max to either one of these in terms camera and the phone itself?

When someone asks me for advice on "which-phone-should-I-buy", I tell them "let's-figure-it-out-together" and begin by letting them know that I'm going to interview them regarding their question. My questions are as follows:

1. What kind of things do you wish to do with a new phone/how do you intend to use the phone if you get one now/soon?

2. What kind of things could/did you do with your former phone or any phone if you don't currently have one?

3. What kind of phone-related activities do you think you will want to do with a phone in the next three to five years for now?

4. What kind of performance/capabilities do you expect from a phone at the moment.

The answers I normally get from respondents for these questions guides us in online surveys of phones either via queries in search engines and/or use of my knowledge of phone types/categories to check examples of phones at places like www.gsmarena.com where search criteria filters aid in zeroing-in on the relevant phone category that best matches the responses to my questions above.

Please forgive me if my explanation above is long/boring, I'm an ICT Technical Support Specialist with customer care training (with a BSc in Sociology...this knowledge combo had helped me and people selling my help a lot).

Best of luck.

Go to www.gsmarena.com and do a tech-spec comparison between your previous/current phone and the one you are interested in...compare the specs and see which one suits your needs.

I actually appreciate your answer. I dont care for the specs between them, i didnt mention it in the post as they are more or less identical in terms of specs, only xiaomi have abit larger battery. I cant look at spec sheets and figure out if a phone has good camera. Like Iphone 12 pro max with a 12 MP sensor beats S21 108 MP sensor? More megapixles and larger sensor looses? Thats why i need answers from people who actualy know.

My answer to your 4 quetsions are as follows:

1 I wil start to get familiar with Android as i have never used an android phone. I wil start to use the camera on my phone to go out and take pictures, to see how good they are.

2 I usualy took photos, played some games, texted, read news on the internett, used dating apps, read my mail and checked facebook

3 I want to start making short cinematic film of nature and of my dog, aswell as pictures of me, the dog and nature as we go on hikes

4 Its fast, no lag, opens apps fast, no jitter, no app crashes. I expect it to work as a flagship should, fast and on point

specs wil show me nothing. Spec sheets dont tell you about the camera itself, only what sensor, megapixel and mm it has. Not whitebalance, what color tint, dynamic range, how good the stabilisation is, autofocus quality, motion blur quality, low light capabilites, Post-Processing agressivness and so on.

I know you didn't mention them in your initial choices, but would you consider a Pixel phone (if they're available where you live)? The Pixel Camera experience is superior.

Acknowledged. A few years ago, I was using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running Android-5, unfortunately it became too obsolete to cater to my non-drawing/art needs and because I needed a replacement at such short notice with a tight budget, I settled for a new Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) SM-A750F-D/S which now runs Android-10.
This new phone is doing much better than I expected with us triple-cam and larger internal memory but can't be an art/drawing-friendly phone like the Samsung Galaxy Note (SGN), so now I gotta start raising funds to get an SGN (haven't decided which yet though).
