Breaking Li-ion batteries in?

So I recently ordered the Mugen Power 1950 slim extended battery for the phone with the name to long to type. It came with battery break in instructions. Charge it for 8-12 hours uninterrupted the first 5 times from the wall charger, running it down to 10 to 15% percent between charges and never allowing it to hit zero charge during that time. I thought Li-Ion batteries didn't have the memory problem. Do we really need to break them in? I plan on following the instructions but it just seems odd.

Two or three cycles should be enough. It's generally considered good to "break in" the battery to get the longest charge cycle out of them.
