Hey I already posted this in a thread but I wanted to repost it here so more people could see and potentially could help me. Tried manually updating to jellybean and I know I was on LI3 rooted. I'm in stock recovery and it keeps aborting the update. Says , "assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/etc/NOTICE.html.gz" , and the a whole bunch of numbers. Now I can't even boot into my phone because its stuck on the boot animation. If anyone has any ideas, I could use them. Thanks

Turn off your phone. Boot into recovery. Volume up, power and home. Hold all 3 until you see Samsung and then release. Choose factory reset and reboot. Let me know what happens.

Or just download Odin, download the last stock Image the follow the instructions on how to install it. Samsung is hard to kill, and since it got as far as you are, you are in decent shape

No need to Odin when a simple data reset will fix it.

Okay thanks but I am a little hesitant on doing a factory reset. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't it wipe all of my text messages, app data and other stuff?

Yea but you can do that or odin. Both will have the same results.

Are you on stock or custom recovery right now?

I was on stock when this happened, now I'm on clockworkmod. Both have the same results. Could there be a way to extract the app data and text messages from a backup of this current rom that is bricked?

If you have a nandroid already or them backed up with titanium backup, yes. If you haven't back them up yet you are too late.

If you are on clockwork right now here's what you should do. Update via post #4 but skip the wipe data step.

That will wipe your data. but if you don't want to flash a rom that will be the best way.

Okay thanks but what exactly am I doing and what rom am I flashing? Post 4 is you saying to wipe data and I'm sorta confused.

Do exactly what that post says except skip the data reset... The odexed is closer to stock. the stock rom is odexed.

If you are still uncomfortable go to my guide for flashing in recovery. There are detailed step by step instructions.

Hi Guys

I need your help..

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 with Cyanogenmod 11 few months back..it was working perfectly fine till today, while i was using my phone camera and my phone freezed suddenly. Nothing was working..then i restarted my phone by long pressing the power button , but the phone is not starting up...first the samsung logo appears on the screen ..then it goes to boot animation of Cyanogen and gets stuck at it. nothing happens after that....I have tried to remove the battery and place it back and then starting the phone...issue still persists .. i have tried to bo the phone in recovery or download mode by using volume key, home and power button ..but nothing happens... i am not able to go to any mode and still stuck at the boot animation screen.

pls pls pls helm me out:''(
