Bricked phone & Clockwork recovery won't do anything

I'm going to start by saying I have no idea what I'm doing.

My wife was sick of her Optimus V running slowly. I rooted it awhile back just for the sake of freeing up internal memory. Today I tried flashing Harmonia 2. When the phone restarts, it just freezes on the Harmonia logo. I have restarted it in recovery mode, but Clockwork recovery won't do anything. No matter what option I choose, it just shows the clockwork logo, but nothing else. I have been researching for hours but haven't really been able to find anything that fixes my problem. Posts that I would like to try just lead me to dead links so I can't download anything.

Please help! and speak to me in easy to understand lingo. Thanks!

You need to use the camera button to select the option you want and use the volume buttons to navigate up and down;)

Well, that was easy enough. Everywhere I read said to use the home button. I tried to restore my backup, but it said it didn't work. So I flashed stockopv.zip from the recovery. It appeared to work, but when I chose to reboot the phone, it rebooted, but for the last 10 minutes it's just said "Android". it isn't frozen because the letters are moving a bit and every once in a while the screen flashes. Is it supposed to take this long the first time? or didn't something bad happen? any ideas?

update: i took the battery out and restarted it. it's still just looping on the android screen

Try holding down home, power, and volume down together after putting the battery back in to get back to your recovery. Do a factory reset in recovery, then wipe cache and Dalvik cache (this one's under the "advanced" menu). Then flash this: Harmonia_1.8_OV.zip It's Harmonia 1.8; a ROM that's been around long enough to be mostly bug-free. It if won't flash right, that means the problem is with your recovery...

And a ROM flash could take about 5 minutes or so. If it's looping for 10+ minutes, it's not working right

Nope it's for the optimus v. If you want a rom for the optimus slider I'd look over in that forum. The hardware between the 2 is different so I wouldn't try anything for the OV on the slider.
