Brightness changes automatically

The brightness of my phone will change automatically when the lighting or sunlight changes around it. Auto brightness is not checked, I never use it. I found the adaptive display setting and took that off but the brightness still automatically changes. It is most noticeable as I am watching a video and when it goes dimmer it becomes so dark that during dark scenes it is hard to see anything.

Is there another setting that I am not seeing? How can I stop this?

Yes, mine does that too, then the screen goes to sleep. I set my screen a bit longer, but it's annoying when watching a video... Smart Stay didn't fix it either...

If mostly noticeable on videos I'm wondering if you have video enhancer mode checked on? This might make videos look different when playing.

It's isn't dimming due to inactvity and then going to sleep. It dims then gets brighter and goes back and forth with the slightest change in the lighting around me.
