Im on a rooted Verizon Fascinate running 2.9 Superclean Rom non-voodoo and was wondering if any one else had this weird glitch

if you turn the brightness down(i have mine on the lowest setting) and if you go to the home screen and hold the status bar for about 5 seconds the brightness will turn up. you hold the status so it comes down just a bit but dont pull it down.

any one else have this glitch? if so what rom are you running? any other glitches?

?

no brightness is off. ill turn it on and report and see what happens.

i would be cool if someone could write something for this, to use the pressing of the status to control brightness like the power control widget does.

it does not work on auto brightness. could someone else confirm this for me?

***update***

it the brightness is up all the way this method will turn the brightness down

This had been built in since about 2.4 maybe. It's a feature. Not a glitch. Hold down on the status bar and it acts like the brightness controller. Turn on auto brightness if you don't like it. That it's if I'm understanding you right?

Correct, it is a feature not a glitch. Had it since Froyo came out. Slide your finger along the Notification bar to increase/decrease the brightness level.

Eliminates the need for a power widget.

!?

o sweet i did not know that. someone need to post a thread about this kind of stuff. i want to know all the hidden things in the fascinate. like how to take a screen shot. i did it on accident and dont know how i did it.

Right. You are manually adjusting the brightness, which is only allowed when auto brightness is turned off. Dig it? :) :) :)

Check here for a list of all the sweet features that came out with Froyo on our phone, including the handy-dandy brightness adjustment

List of Froyo Features for FASN8

EDIT: how to screen shot is one of the listed features and described therein. :)

Uhm.... you do realize that this isn't a bug, it's a brightness control feature in 2.2?

Slide your finger along the status bar after you notice the dimming/brightening effect and you can control the amount of backlight. It's exactly what you are saying you hope it is - a means to control the brightness without going into Display/Settings.

As ytaay linked you to, Cory Streator already put a ton of work putting a thread together doing just what you asked, and he did it way back on February 1. Everyone who is new to rooting and AC need to learn how to search through the forums and brush up on your reading, especially the stickies. The information is there and not difficult to find at all. Please read the forum rules & guidelines, and other info about the forums here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/android-central-meta/57097-android-central-forum-faqs.html It is a wealth of information which will help you get the most out of the forums. I spend hours and hours here at the forums answering questions and helping people and the reasons I know what I know are reading, reading, and more reading here, DroidXcon's help primarily but also help from a long list of people, personal experience, and oh yeah reading, reading, and more reading here. We were all new at some point and I asked a ton of questions myself, but that was after searching and searching for the answers and not finding them.

No, it was already a feature before 2.4, and for everyone that is new so it is not confusing that is referring to superclean 2.4 (helps to say sc 2.4) not android operating system (OS) 2.4 which isn't even out yet. A lot of people are getting sc versions confused as android OS, so I just wanted to clear that up.

See Ytaay's post and my comments above.

Once again, post by Ytaay and my comments above. Did you really need to say in three different posts that someone should post a thread on this especially when a thread already exists? Sorry about sounding a bit rude, but that is a little overkill.

If you follow this good advice by decaydance99 and your computer still does not connect with your phone, leave the phone in this condition with usb debugging enabled and the phone plugged into the computer and reboot your phone. This should solve the problem.
