Browser does not connect after Froyo update

I recently purchased my HTC Incredible last month online and received it and it worked amazing. I received the OTA update for 2.2 and was super excited. Did the upgrade and ever since then I have been having issues connecting to the browser BUT its only when the phone is shut off and then turned back on. That is when I receive an error message in the browser stating it cannot connect or if you try to go Facebook or Twitter it states I'm not connected and to please connect. When you go into the "Wireless & Networks" setting it shows its trying to "connect" to Mobile Network. If you turn the phone off again and turn it back on then the internet connection is fine.

I have called Verizon 4 times. They had me do a hard reset and it still is having issues. I went to the Verizon store last night and the tech didn't attempt to really do anything but was going to order a replacement since I'm still within my 30 days (they had none in stock). But of course I'd have to send the phone back, wait for a credit and then purchase the phone again and in the mean time go back to my crappy BlackBerry Curve.

I'm trying to see if anyone can help, this phone worked perfectly until I did the 2.2 update. If you turn the phone off and then turn it back on again the internet connection is fine but this gets very frustrating. So do I leave my phone on all the time and never shut it off or is there anything else I can do to try and fix this or send it back for a brand new one? **sigh**. I'm so disappointed right now.

Any advice is helpful and sorry if this has been discussed before (I don't think it has, I've read and read and read all the forums I can find.

The first couple of times after I updated to froyo (2.2) it did take awhile to connect back(mobile network) . I think I did have to turn phone off once when it never connected back(it was like it was stuck) but now it seems to connect just as it did, before the update.I might not have gave it enough time to boot totally up , it has connected fine except for that first day when I updated.I do turn my phone off every night btw . I did not do anything or change anything it just started working correct again and hasnt messed up anymore ,just turned phone off again and back on and still connecting as it did before update now , hopefully yours does too now .

I'm still having the issue....I think I'm gonna have to send it back and get a brand new one again.

I've had that same issue twice now... It loses the data connection, and can't get it back until the phone is reset. It only started doing this after I updated to Froyo.

For what it's worth, sending it back to get a brand new one is kinda silly don't you think? It's clearly a software issue - I'd try doing a hard reset first. If the problem continues for me, that's what I'll be doing.

I've had issues with the browser failing to fully load a webpage. It just hangs. Can't refresh or anything. I upgraded Adobe flash to the latest version and that seemed to help. It had frozen after the upgrade twice, but I haven't seemed to have this issue in the last week or so. Maybe the flash upgrade fixed it?

The only solution I've found was to go into settings-applications-manage applications- and then kill "internet".

When this was happening neither dolphin or skyfire had any issues connecting to the internet.

Perhaps this will help you. But maybe not.

.. hmmm so it keeps happening to y'all ? Fingers and Toes crossed here if so,,,hope it stays a non-issue on mine.

Whatever it takes I hope everyone else gets theirs fixed (even if it means replacement phone)

This happened to me. I was told that after an update, sometimes there are pieces of the old code that didn't get deleted or overwritten for some reason and it is conflicting with the new code. I raised the bs flag at first, but...

I backed up my apps and settings, did a factory reset wipe, retrieved my apps and settings (I used mybackup pro) by re-downloading the app and selecting restore. Absolutely NO issues of any kind. It fixed my data drop issue, landscape and portrait issues, contact issues, lag issues, and runs like a race car!

Tech support had me do a hard reset, still didn't resolve gps connection issue. The check mark is marked on Gps but it never connects. They gave up and are sending me another phone.

Thanks... didn't know about mybackup pro. Might give that a shot. I have a feeling there's gonna be small issues like this after an OS update, and a hard reset should correct them.

Is that link for sure? Can anybody confirm? I am so sick of this crap. My phone was working great up until this much anticipated update. Browser ALWAYS crashes and closes. While typing, it lags a lot....

Update: VZW Sending me a new phone

I finally took my phone to another Verizon store, they asked me to leave my phone for 1 hour for the tech to look at it. Came back and they had already ordered a replacement phone for me. I will be getting it Thursday. So for now, I just won't turn my phone off. Like I said, it only has issues when you turn the phone off and then back on (and then you have to turn it off and on again to work again).

So my question is, am I getting a brand new phone or a refurbished one...(do they even have those?)..I'm within my 30 days so I should (and want a brand new one) sent to me. I called the Verizon store I went to and they said its a new one, however when I called VZW on the phone they said its a replacement, which could mean anything.

I guess I'll see on Thursday. If its not brand new its going back! I want a brand new one since I'm within my 30 days of purchasing the phone.

I still love the Incredible but am very disappointed that after I waited for Froyo that I started having issues with the internet connection.

I did numerous battery pulls and VZW had me do a hard reset and there was still an issue.

I agree with you, my phone was perfect until I got the OTA 2.2 update...I'm wishing I hadn't installed it.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one to have the issue.

I'm Leary about that link and didn't want to risk messing up my computer. I didn't feel confident when I clicked on it originally.
