So currently I'm on a 1GB a month plan and moving to 250mb plan in 2 days and i'd like to know which browser is best for my nexus 5 to compress the data and use as less data as possible while browsing. I've checked out the opera browsers and there's mainly two: opera browser for android and opera mini, both are able to compress data but which one do i go with?, the only proper difference I can tell between them is the UI but I'm purely looking for the one which can save me the most data which I cant tell so any help would be appreciated.

In my honest opinion 250mb is far to less data to fully enjoy a galaxy nexus none the less a nexus 5. Everything now adays uses more and more data that's why carriers are trying to get more spectrum even though they might have enough. Unless you are on wifi 99% of the time I say stick with the 1gb plan or try to get a 2.

Okay, re-read your question. Between Opera mini and mobile, mini is the one to go if data usage is the concern.

Opera mini claims to reduce data consumption by "up to 90%". Its a shell app, which means all the pages you browsed will be passing through an Opera server to be compressed first, before being sent to your phone.

Opera mobile, on the other hand, actually has an layout engine on the phone which receive and draw data directly from website you want to browse.

The data compression has its advantages, such as reduced data consumption, however, you need to ask yourself if you are okay with all your internet activity flow through a third party server/proxy, which does raise the question of privacy.

Opera mini is good with data compression. Give it a try now and see how much data you are using. Keep in mind you need to also watch all your other apps in terms of database use.

Thanks guys, I have decided not to go with 250mb a month so I won't be needing any other browser but chrome :)

Thanks for the help though
