Browser issues and general performance lag

So as you can see from my attached screen shot, I'm having some really weird issues with the browser on my Transformer Prime. I've been able to replicate this awful mess in my browser mostly from trying to visit URLs from Tweetcaster tweets. But it's also happened once or twice when I type in a URL like normal.

Images and text on really long websites (like the front pages of androidcentral.com and androidpolice.com) flicker from blank white to showing up again. Animated GIFs are really jerky even when fully loaded, or sometimes don't even animate at all.

Mayhaps I have a lemon? I really don't know. I'm just glad that Best Buy has their extended holiday return policy because if the ICS update doesn't fix these issues, I'm just going to have to part with the Prime.

Yeah, as the person suggested above me. If I were you I would be curious in finding out if this is limited to the stock browser or if it can be replicated to FireFox and Dolphine, I suppose those are the most popular browsers I can think of.

I had a weird issue like that happen to me with a flash video. Hopefully someone can figure it out. Just assumed the flash video was screwed up.

I have not experienced those issues on mine, but I haven't done too much web browsing as of yet. I'll have to spend a few more hours testing the browser to see if I can replicate your issues as well.

I find the unit very slow to change applications. Just hitting the home button or back button the key will light up and I have to wait a second or two for the device to perform the command. I am also getting some "general performance lag".

Got mine yesterday and haven't notice any delays on switching apps or pressing home. My wife has the the Ipad2, so as a reference, my TP performs just as well in screen response, app switching, etc.

You guys getting lag, did you do a full factory reset as soon as you received your Prime? This is a good rule to follow with any phone/tablet/computer. Typically avoids these types of performance issues that shouldn't be happening.

No I didnt. My lag isnt bad but on some things there is a little slowness. I can try a full reset when I get home. I just got mine yesterday so doing a reset wouldnt be that bad for me.

I had my TP for a week. At first, all was well - fast response, browser worked fine, good WiFi and Bluetooth range. Then, after about 4 days I started noticing a bit of lag in the touch response time. This got worse and I sometimes saw as much as a 2 second delay to a touch input. I did a hard reset, and that halped, but the problem returned. My unit did have a problem and maybe this exacerbated the touch response lag. The problem was the unit started to lock up. No respone to touch or button presses. A full factory reset did not help. I ended up returning the TP.

I agree, making me reconsider...but I will wait to see it for myself, I guess. Hope Amazon has good return policies.

Same problem here. I even did a factory reset. There seems to be a problem with a lag in processing and also in the responsiveness of the touch screen itself. I have none of the other problems that others have mentioned. In fact I'd gladly trade a weaker wifi or slow GPS for the problem I'm having, it's almost unbearable at some points. I've had the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and right now have a Transformer (original) and a Kindle Fire, and an iPad 2 (which I just got from my employer for Christmas and was going to eBay to finance my new Prime). The Prime is amazing in so many ways but its the least useable of the bunch n a consistent basis and it pains me to say that. Don't get me wrong, when its working it screams, but the lag problem and touch screen not registering clicks is killing me. I've done some tests with the Prime, original Transformer, Kindle Fire and iPad 2 and with just simple drawing and typing tests the Prime is the least responsive and least accurate :-(

A big part of me wants to hang onto it in the hopes that an ICS (or other update) will solve the problem with the lag, but another part of me is worried about the touch sensitivity and thinks that's not necessarily an easy software fix. I just don't know. I want to keep it so bad, but $550 is just so much money not to have something that's working at least half way decent.

What to do...

Yeah, I'm growing more convinced its software. Its been functioning fairly well the past 20 Minutes are so. I'm definitely giving it the weekend no matter what. But I do love it, just want it to work well, at least most of the time ;-)

I agree - I'm like you man. This is no chump change for me (I'm a poor college student working a part-time job 2 days a week lol). This amount of money could be used for so much else... my tablet itself arrives tomorrow according to Amazon, with the dock arriving sometime in early Feb unless that changes soon (knock on wood). But if my tablet has these major issues, it will be a quick return for me and a cancelled keyboard dock, I guess. :-(

I would expect is to fix some of these issues. All of these reports of issues is starting to worry me just a bit.

It pains me to say it, but it's going back. Like I said, I'd rather have a weaker wifi signal or a slow gps over the screens touch sensitivity wackiness. I wanted this so bad and waited so long, it just kills me to have to return it. But I do a lot of illustrating and note taking and it's just too erratic. That combined with the bad typing experience whenever the touch decides to not register, and well it's just not a good user experience. I still have a kindle fire, original transformer and a new iPad 2 (don't like so much, but was a Christmas gift and a pretty good web browser and kindle reader) to hold me over. I'm gonna return it and wait it out a bit and see if they can work some of the issues out or if ISC remedies anything, or heck, even see if anything else comes out. The next couple months should be very interesting, to say the least.

Have you considered just exchanging it? It sounds to me more like you received a bad unit
