Browser memory & performance issues

Hello, I just picked up a Note 2 from Verizon and am very happy with it. My only issue is that after browsing for a while, the browser starts to lag a bit, sometimes "catching" as I scroll down quickly. It starts when the browser hits about 250mb and gets pretty bad at 500mb. The solution is to actually close the browser from the task list, which isn't a big deal, but I never had to do this on my other Android phones. Your thoughts? I am using the stock browser.

Does anyone else have this problem? It's getting really aggravating. Scrolling here on AC is bad. I'm thinking of returning it as defective.
