Just picked up the GT this morning at my local Verizon store and the only thing I can't figure out is how to stop it from loading mobile pages. I have checked in the setting menu in the browser and in the regular setting menu but can't find how to disable it.

That would be because those sites are detecting the Android browser user agent string and showing you the mobile version (since it is essentially the Android browser). Most sites have an option / link to view the full sites, but that would be site-dependent.

That's one of the reasons that Google is saying that Android 2.2 is not optimized for tablets.

I've played with the Galaxy Tab and I love the size, the screen and the smooth operation of the device; but I'm waiting until April to buy a tablet. I want more choises. I'll be looking at the Blackberry Playbook, the LG Optimus Tablet, and the next version of the Galaxy Tab. Also if HTC comes out with a 7" or 9" tablet, I'll be looking it too.

Just tried opra mini and unchecked mobile view option and it still brings up the mobile view. On my DI I have the mobile view unchecked and it will bring up the full sites of any page I navigate to. I sure hope there is a work around for this because I hate the mobile view!!!

Do this:

Open Browser
enter "about:debug" hit go. It will appear nothing happened
Hit your menu btton, select "more"
Scroll to and select settings
Scroll to the bottom and hit "UAString" and select "Desktop"
Hit your back button
Type in a URL of a site that has both mobile and full version. It should now run the full version.

Note -- You may have to do this every time you open your browser.

There isn't an option for UAString in the settings :(

By the way, how do you like it so far. What are your first impressions? Worth getting?

Yes I typed it without the quotes.

The mobile view and the browser being a little laggy is my only complaint. The email and calendar app look great and all my paid apps from my DI transferred over without any problems. I'm able to sync all my files from my pc using doc to go which is a big plus. I really like the size because it will fit in my coat pocket with limited bulk and when typing it feels very comfortable. Haven't had much time because of work to play around with it but once my kids go to bed tonight I will have plenty of time.

Finally got it working om Dolphin browser and here is how I did it.
Cleared cache, data, cookie, and history in both the stock and dolphin browser. Then opened dolphin browser and hit menu>more>settings>user agent>then selected desktop. For some reason if you don't clear all the info first it wouldn't work for me.
