Hi, so I searched the forums and found posts dating back a few years with the same issue as mine all ending with no solution. I would simply like to choose which BT devices my phone will automatically connect to. As it stands, coworker wakes up before me, starts truck, listens to whatever the hell I was listening to last night. Also in reverse, or I have to hear him arguing with his wife on the phone. The truck doesn't have an option and neither does my phone anywhere I can find. So, in the evening I unpair my phone now, then after work I sit in the driveway pairing back up before I can have any music in the truck, if I forget I get no music because of safety fearures stopping me.. it's kinda like 1990 when you had to find your CD and stick it in but if it had a scratch you were F'd, except it's 2023 and computers have been able to beat world Champs in chess for almost 20yrs.

I would imagine that the vehicle's stereo has an option to prioritize one device over another. Imaging getting into a friends car and you both have BT enabled and sync'd to the vehicle because you occasionally share rides and your friend's device takes priority in your vehicle. That is what was happening to me. It took me awhile to find this option in my Toyota and it wasn't in an obvious place. I wouldn't give up the search for this feature for this stereo. I wouldn't be able to tell you where yours might be but I would try doing a web search for the make and model of the stereo. Not sure how you would set it up to your advantage in this case but it may allow you to simply turn off BT rather than pairing every time.

Thanks, prioritizing a device won't fully solve things but better than nothing. The problem with turning BT off is that I usually fall asleep to something playing on my BT speaker so it's on most nights. Proper solution would be a simple toggle for auto connect, just like with wifi. Oh well, since I'm probably in a tiny minority I'm not hopeful there's a real solution.

Phone is Galaxy S20

You might be able to use automation to help with this. There are several automation apps out there as well as Google Assistant and Samsung Bixby if you have a Sammy. Not sure how it would work for the latter two but they all work on logic statements, if this then that. An app like Tasker you could write a logic profile that would turn on/off BT at certain times of the day, or when connected to a certain device turn off after a set amount of time, or a dozen other triggers. This would allow you to still fall asleep with BT on and wake up with it off. Then with a separate logic challenge it could turn it on when you leave the house or open a specific app or... there are dozens of conditions that could be used. Tasker has a community here and on many Android forums and Tasker wiki. There is a bit of a learning curve involved but you can go as simply as you want or as complex as you're willing to learn.
