AC Question

I'm debating on whether to purchase the Nokia 6 or the Moto G5 Plus from Amazon.
Both of these models are unlocked and run for $229.99.

Nokia 6_____________
+1 GB more RAM
+Future updates have been promised
+NFC
-Snapdragon 430
-No Moto Display Equivalent

Moto G5 Plus_____________
+Moto Display & Moto Experiences
+Snapdragon 625
+Plenty of reviews proving its worth
-Poor update support
-1 GB of RAM less for the same price

So my question is: Which one is the best budget phone? I realize its mostly a matter of higher level Snapdragon vs 1 GB of RAM, but what do you guys think the Android OS would do best on? I'm planning to use it for more productivity uses (like MS Word app and a browser open in split screen view) instead of gaming.

I think by "Moto Display" you mean the quick notifications on the home screen?

If so, I discovered that is one of the best features I've ever experienced on any phone.

I use it all the time on my Moto X PE and I recently bought an HTC U11, then discovered it didn't have this vital feature that is so useful that I just figured by now every phone had it.

I actually ended up giving the U11 to my wife, because I couldn't live without the notifications. I'm back to using my Moto X.

I hate that Motorola abandoned any pretense at giving updates, but they got me hooked with the notifications. It may seem like a simple feature, but for me it's extremely useful. So I guess I'm hooked into the Motorola world...

I used a Moto G4 until recently and found that the notification was indeed very useful . My previous phone (a Sony) did have a notification LED which served a similar purpose i.e. let you know at a glance that there was a missed message or call - I couldn't find that on the Moto.

Regarding updates - have you seen a statement form Motorola to that effect ? - during my time with the Moto G4 I did receive updates e.g. I received the update to Android 7 back around March or April.

My vote would be for the Moto G5 Plus. 😃

It's a solid budget phone. The 625 is a very decent performing processor and will give you great battery life. I know the updates may not be perfect but it comes with Nougat so that's great.
