I was so excited to get my Evo 4G on Friday, but yesterday I discovered I suddenly have a burnt pixel. You can't see it when the screen is white (or showing bright colors) but when it's dark (like when showing a movie, or changing settings) I have 1 RED shiny pixel that won't go away :(

I'll be returning this to Sprint tomorrow, but I just wanted to get the word out there and see if I'm alone or has this happened to others Evos ?

you know you can rub it out right? it may not be a dead pixel, but a stuck one...just use a blunt pencil tip and a thick napkin between the tip and phone screen

dead pixels are black that stay black when the screen is white

since it looks normal with a white screen, you just have a stuck pixel....do a google search on how to fix it and it works! Happened to one of my laptops. But I had about 6-7 stuck pixels

I have a dark spot on my white screen? guy at RS thought it was a burned out LED under the screen. its about the size of an eraser top on a pencil. not real dark just enough that you notice it when browsing pages when it has a white background. is it something to worry about, its at the top of the screen. They said i could swap it but already have an invisible screen protector on it. i just dont want it to get worst.

That CAN work on some LCD screens, but since there is a layer of glass over the evos screen this is not possible. Though I would not recommend doing it on any scree. You run a risk of doing more damage.

Still not good

I tried "rubbing it out" and, tapping on it, hitting it, squeezing it and pulling it.. nothing helped!

Now I'm trying the Android App: JscreenFix

You can find it on the app market... they say you should run it for 10 minutes, I already ran it for 20 with no improvement.. I think i'm just going to keep it going all night, and if it doesn't help, replace my Evo tomorrow. :(

Common or not, I have several dead pixels too. Given the supply shortages, I'm inclined to wait a week or two before I do anything about it. I'm not really experienced in dealing with warranty issues (I've been pretty fortunate in the past--or maybe more willing to overlook minor issues), so who should I be dealing with? I bought the phone at RadioShack... do I have to go back to them? The only reason I bought there was for the $20 accessory credit, but I'm loathe to deal with them again.
