I really like the clean look of the GS2. I honestly thought physical buttons should have gone away. Can someone maybe who has handled this phone tell me why I should appreciate having a physical button? Thanks

Some would argue that capacative buttons could fail in serious system lockups...and that a physical buttons are hard coded to do what they do...whenever. I'm with u...I don't like physical buttons...I'm an advocate for all software...moving parts in technology just have more opportunity to fail

I prefer the capacative buttons over the on screen or hardware buttons.

Just Flash It !!!

Wake up the screen, set it to do something (hold it down on an iphone you get siri, hold it down on a GS3 you get multitasking, etc.), find the button in the middle of the night where as with capacitative you wouldnt know whether you were holding the top of the device or the bottom. Classical sexy feel (my opinion) lol

If this a deal breaker for you, then you should get another phone as this is the only option for the GS3. There are tons of phones to choose from with the clean look you like.

I am actually welcoming the button. It's going to be a new experience for me but I can see the benefits in it.

All these reasons. Waking up to work at 3 am the brain didn't firing on all cylinders. Having a physical button is great.

Agreed...seems like it will be a useful addition (at least an addition in the US). And I rather like the way it looks. :D

Thanks for all the responses. I just figured I'd ask since I never thought I would buy a phone with a physical button. But I once thought I would never buy a phone without a physical keyboard and the forums helped alot when I made the decision to ditch my blackberry. I was just curious what people thought.

Because this is the dumbest post ever.

Thanks for sharing. Would you care to elaborate on your opinion? What specifically about that post qualifies it as the "dumbest post ever"? I thought it was a good post, with a good question, so after reading your response I'm beginning to question my own judgement. And to think, all my years of mobile device modification, hacking, and development and it wasn't until right now i learned i knew nothing ;)

That was sarcastic, and in jest, but you might rethink your attitude. Welcome to the community, heres a link to the forum rules and guidelines.
