I have been thinking about buying an unlocked nexus one for awhile now, and then the Nexus S comes out. I was wondering if I should buy the nexus S or just buy a N1 off ebay. I am only having a tough decision on this because the specs are not that different from each other, and being with at&t I would prefer a 3G device. Just wanted some 3rd party opinions so thanks!

Just out or curiosty, why are you looking for a new device? The Captivate is every bit equal to both devices and actually a step higher than the Nexus. Not saying either is a bad phone but why move from the Captivate to either phone. If you want vanilla Android just install a custom rom.

I am assuming you are talking about paying full retail for the NExus S and if that is the case and you really want one or the other then I would look into an ATT band Nexus 1 for your 3G. If you can't get it under $400 then go for the S.

I am thinking about buying an N1 or a NS because I'm tired of waiting months for an update that soon could be outdated by Gingerbread. I also really like stock android.

Well I can definitely agree with you about stock android, I live my Droid for that specific reason :-)

As for waiting months if you have one of the latest and greatest phones it is not that long (like 6 weeks from the date the code was released to devs the DInc and Evo had Froyo) but yeah being the first to get it is cool :-)

In your opinion what ya think I should do?

Assuming I am right in my assumption and you are not getting any carrier subsidized pricing I would see how cheaply I can get an at&t 3g nexus 1. If you can find a new or almost new one for under $300 then I would go that route (haven't looked but I suspect this is a long shot. If not the then go for the S.

Alright I thought I would report back, you might not even care, but after looking i'm going with a Nexus S. N1 go for outrageous prices on ebay. I know i'm not getting 3G but I am on wifi half the time. Once again thanks for the help.

I kinda figured as much, it's been a high demand handset largely because half the people buying them were buying them in parts of the world Google would not ship to and now that it is considered a discontinued handset the price is no doubt higher and probably will be till the Nexus S has been around for a while. I still kinda want one personally but can't pay more than $300 for one so, I will continue to wait myself and enjoy other handsets. No problem about the help :-)

Get it, 40 gigs? no, but if 16 isn't to small, and little #4 is cool, get it! Yeha! I wish google would send a 160 gig cdma! My X fully comforts me through the S release thank you VZW MOTO! Hail android!!!!!!!

I just bought one of ebay and I'm so excited about it! I wanted the nexus s, but after a lot of research, the nexus 1 is more for me. I do not see a lot of differences between the two, and I love HTC more than samsung. Got lucky with mine for $375. Even though that's still high, I sold my iPhone 4 for $420 so I'm still coming out on top! :)
