I am wanting to buy a Pixel 2XL. Is there any advantage to buying it directly from Google over getting it from Verizon? I already have a Verizon account and do not want to make monthly payments I just want to buy it outright.

Thanks!

I would think buying it directly from Google would be the better choice. You won't get all the added bloatware from Verizon. I always buy my phones right from Apple or Samsung. Never my carrier. Thanks.

I too was going to suggest buying unlocked from Google - you won't be stuck in a monthly payment plan; and you won't have any Verizon-specific bloatware on your 2 XL. What colour are you looking at?

I can't see any advantage to going with Verizon, unless they have different radios (which I don't think they do.) And an advantage to going with Google is that if updates are delayed by the carrier, you can pull the SIM and update over wifi.

This is true - you won't be trapped as much by your carrier update-wise if you buy directly from Google.
