From Craigslist. for $175 bucks. The seller said it was only used for a week, and it's in 'mint' condition.

I currently own a OG Droid. It's ok, but my touchscreen goes crazy after being in my pocket.

Basically is what im asking, what should i look at on the phone to make sure it's in good shape. such as defects that alot of phones have but aren't recognized by the manufacturer.

Also, how does the 'trackball' work at the bottom? Do you have to use it?

Make sure it's stock, and make sure it's S-ON.

To check if it's S-ON, turn the phone off and then turn it on by holding down the down volume and power button at the same time. This will load HBOOT a white screen with 3 skateboarding Androids at the bottom.

Right at the top of the screen you should see of its S-OFF or not. If it's S-OFF just be aware that the phone was previously rooted. Being S-OFF is not necessarily a bad thing, but you should know in advance.

Also check the Software Information info in the About screen.

Stock is Android 2.2
Baseband 2.15.00.07.28
Build 3.26.605.1

The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to take it into a store or call VZW and check the ESN - It's on a sticker under the battery. Make sure VZW validates it as a good device (i.e. not stolen) before you buy it. Otherwise, you will have a very nice 3.7" Wi-Fi tabletette! ;)

Some people use the trackball all the time others never use it. I like it for positioning the curser when typing.

Good luck – sounds like a good price.

Thats exactly what im looking for!

I assume my apps tha i bought with my OG droid will transfer over?

Yep - use the same g-mail account to log in.

If you do buy it you probably want to do a factory reset and start from the setup. Then your paid apps will be in the market.

I understand that now your non-paid apps are being stored in the market on the Web, so check there too to re-install other stuff.

Got the phone. It's in pristine condition! Looks brand spanking new! It has never been rooted and everything checks out on it.
