I was so happy to get this phone at launch, I was waiting and waiting for a long time. Come to find out that this phone has had so many problems. I have had a few clnr and they have all had problems, each worse than the other. I called Verizon today and spent an hour on the phone with them, Talked to a few supervisors and finally got it replaced with a Droid X2...It's not 4G, but I also got my upgrade date moved up. I'm waiting for the Bionic, I'm sure it will have it's problems as well, but I've always had good luck with Moto. So just wanted to say thank you all for all the threads on everything, they have all helped me a lot! Good luck and I hope you all see GB soon!!

good luck to you as well. Sucks your phones sucked. I honestly am not seeing the problems,my phone is awesome lol. I think when we finally get GB, alot of people are going to regret leaving. Your going to have the TB with skype, better battery(THANK GOD) and a ton of others. Damn im excited. lol.

I just got the phone yesterday and don't think. Gingerbread is going to help the screen outdoors not being visible at all. This is a major oversight by HTC and really pisses me off. I guess I'm going to have to trade for a Droid Charge or buy a Bionic and sell this :(

I am pretty jealous. I got this phone pretty much for free because of a best buy lemon policy with my OG droid and I picked it to get on the 4G plan before they start charging for it. Turns out I wish I got the slimmer Inc2 or charge. Too many pain in the ass problems with gps or google maps or horrendous battery (what kind of dumbass puts a smaller battery in a phone with 4G and a bigger screen??) I am close to the end as well. Thinking about just hitting this phone with a baseball bat and getting a new one via best buy black tie.

I'm hanging on to mine. Mine is visible on the handlebar of my motorcycle in sunlight and the GPS works very well. No idea why it isn't good on others.
Yes, the small battery capacity in this phone was a mistake. But I have enough charging cables to live with it.

These phones will probably be truly great (and not just to the fanboys) in a few years. But for now, they have to be tweaked, babied and have work-a-rounds (rooted) to deliver adequate results.

Perhaps the 5G phones will be less hassle, if there ever is a 5G.

I bought two extra batteries on amazon for $6.83 a piece (deal alert) and hopefully when I get up to Colorado (in Florida now) I will be able to see the screen in the (hopefully) dimmer Colorado sunshine.

That's a pretty extreme life style change JUST to see your cell phone screen better during the day! ;)

Doubtful. I went to Mexico City where it was dim and gloomy the entire week. Couldn't see anything. Still got some amazing photos anyway, but i definitely couldn't see what I was shooting.

Newsflash. Colorado sunshine is noticeably brighter than Florida due to the lack of moisture in the air. Haven't spent much time out west, eh? :)

I carry a spare battery in the car, one in my laptop case, a car charger, a charger at work and one at home. I run the screen at 100% brightness all the time due to eyesight issues. Have never run dry but I always have a backup plan.

Went on a GPS caching outing with some friends for an entire day in TX sunlight. The screen was surprisingly easy to read but not with polarized shades on. Yes, I had to change to my 3rd battery by the time we were done but it was at 60% when I got back to the car. Took photos and video and listened to podcasts throughout the day with Bluetooth headphones. Hooked it up to the car charger and was back to 100% by the time we got to the bar 1/2 hour later and spent a couple of hours showing off pix and vids while there. Just be prepared and you won't be disappointed.

I also used a golf GPS app for 18 holes and made it through the round on one battery but it was close. I was getting <20% warnings by the time I got back to the clubhouse. By the time I had downed my first cold one I had swapped out batteries and all was well. I could catch up on all the crap people had been trying to throw my way while I ignored them for 5 hours of ME time.

I got a deal from Amazon for 2 spare stock batteries plus AC charger that charges batteries outside the phone for $30 2 months ago. I didn't get the oversize battery because I had already shelled out for a case that won't work with it and neither will my vent mount in my car which won't accommodate the whale-tail battery cover.

You do what you have to do to keep these bad boys running gang. I find swapping out a battery or hitting the chargers whenever I'm in range of them to be a small price to pay for the amazing power of this phone.

The thing is if they did advertise it as not your dream phone the phone after I wouldn't be as agitated with poor battery life but when you hype it up and all that and then cant produce that hurts their image with me since I will remember that in my next phone purchase. Just be honest and if you know it has a lot of bugs and issues dont hype it up so much and people wouldnt be nearly as angry with htc and verizon.

Here's the thing... the ThunberBolt was my "dream phone" on its release date of March 17, 2011 because it was better than any other phone on Verizon at that time or before. It is now my "one after that" because it is still the best phone on Verizon, 4-1/2 months after that and even though somewhere between 3-6 new Verizon Smartphones have been released since then! And it looks like it's gonna maintain its "dream" status until at least the Holiday season is upon us. Possilby past that! I think the slogan is accurate.

I have my Thunderbolt mounted to my bike's Handlebars to.
GPS works great although the screen washes out some especially when wearing sunglasses.
I made a little shadowbox that the phone sits in that helps.

Yeah it really is disappointing my Droid X, 2 Global, and Incredible 2 all looked great in the sun.

No not much last summer I stayed out in Colorado. Im thinking because the sun is further South it wouldn't be as bright Idk what do I know

Really if we can afford this device and afford Verizon service every month then we can afford multiple extra batteries. Maybe I'llcheck what the screen looks like with my prescription glasses off outside they have some kind of expensive protection from the sun not the weirdo kind that go from clear to black it looks sort of greenish in the right light Idk we'll see regardless the screen is dimmer than alot of the competition
